I wasn't expecting half of what was in this book!!!! I was  full of emotions from laughing to shedding tears 😭. Kennedy Ryan is absolutely amazing with her realistic story writing.... I however, wasn't ready for this level of deepness surrounding domestic violence. You have been warned!

Whew. This was a lot. I felt like the story was written very well and I felt like Kennedy wrote this with grace. Usually heavy stuff like this will stop me dead in my tracks but I felt like because it was written with such care I was able to push through the story. Seeing Iris suffer like that truly hurt. You felt her pain, her resilience, her fear, and everything in between. The way August felt so strongly for her and never gave up on her made you believe in soulmates. I will say though, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I felt like it dragged a bit. There were so many points in the story where I felt she could’ve ended it and it just kept going. I did enjoy seeing them come full circle and seeing Iris heal but I felt like the epilogue had alot of unnecessary fluff that could’ve been shortened. I think she did it to make up for how violently the story began. Overall, I recommend but go in knowing that this is a very heavy read.

This was a really good book, but there are a lot of trigger warnings around domestic abuse and rape (graphic at times). Please understand this is the realest book with domestic violence i have read in a long time. This is about fighting for your life in your own home.

The first half of the book is about Iris's life in a relationship that progressively turned abusive (not from the mmc).  Ultimately, this is a story about being a survivor and moving on from a life that was shattering to every aspect of one's being and how to continue on, trust, and love from there.

August met Iris and realizes she was his future so for years he saw her visad she showed and knew maybe one day she would be hers. He always knew Caleb was bad and he even hurt August. I loved his patience and his loce for her throughout the years . He knew he had a dream life but his real dream was iris and Syriah.

Iris was the strongest fmc I have read and how she used family to heal and how she did it on her own terms. She is an incredible mother.

I was in tears multiple times and this audio was wonderful.
