Wow

I'm not even sure where to begin with this one. To say that this was a great book is an understatement. This book hit home in so many ways for me. This is not a book to be rushed but a book to be savored. This book brought me so many emotions, but in the end, love was all that I could feel. Read it....I implore you. You won't regret it.

Honestly, a little too much violence for me but it did feel realistic to the characters and the situation.

I loved the message in the end about domestic violence, especially as a survivor myself. However the extreme detail of abuse and rape took so much enjoyment out of it for me. I found myself wanting to DNF for that reason alone, but I trusted Kennedy Ryan and had to see it through until the end. Very heavy read. Although it is a great story, do not go into this expecting a cute, fluffy romance. The romance aspect feels more like a subplot.

TW: abuse, rape, domestic violence,

This was a really good book, but there are a lot of trigger warnings around domestic abuse and rape (graphic at times).
The first half of the book is about Iris's life in a relationship that progressively turned abusive (not from the mmc). It was hard to listen to most of the scenes surrounding that abuse. Ultimately, this is a story about being a survivor and moving on from a life that was shattering to every aspect of one's being and how to continue on, trust, and love from there. The power of family, their love, and having them as a purpose in order to continue on.
This is a dual POV with Iris and August.

I don’t have words to really describe how I felt about this book, other than Kennedy Ryan truly knows how to write three dimensional stories about women. Her romance novels don’t feel like romance novels - it feels like going on a journey of growth with anybody you could know. I read through this book at a quick pace and was filled with so many emotions, but at the end of it, triumphant.

It’s been a day since I’ve read this book and I’m still crying. Please check the trigger warnings. 🥺

This book will stay with me for a long time. Kennedy Ryan just knows how to pull on heart strings.
