I don't think I've ever seen anything that focused so heavily on Dracula's brides before. Very interesting, unique perspective.

Gibson's prose was great. I think her decision to tell the story through Constanta writing letters to Dracula after, spoiler, his death, was a fantastic choice and a nod to the original Stoker novel. I absolutely adored her voice.

My only gripes really are that I personally would have enjoyed more pages, a little more depth, and Magdalena's perspective.

The language and style were lush and lovely 🌹 really captured the gothic style. I liked the shift of POV to a female in a possessive vampire relationship. Serves as an empowering tale for females in abusive relationships, while keeping with the vampire tale.

“I made you into my private Christ, supplicated with my own dark devotions. Nothing existed beyond the range of your exacting gaze, not even me. I was simply a non-entity when you weren't looking at me, an empty vessel waiting to be filled by the sweet water of your attention.
A woman can't live like that, my Lord. No one can. Don't ask me why I did it.
God, forgive me.
Christ, forgive me.”

This book was one of the best reads this year! One of the best books ever for me. It was shorter than normal, but it was PACKED with so many different emotions. And it was beautifully written!
I actually ended up listening to the Audio book and I have to say the woman that narrates does a spectacular job with her narration.
The book is about the end of Dracula....but it also deals with his last bride and his last maiden and prince. Dracula took many lovers, but these were the last three.

Constanza....she stole my heart the moment i heard her new name. "Constanza....." I could hear Dracula in his low, deep voice, spill her name from his lips. Even typing this out gives me chills!

Dracula was a narcissist to the end. And as someone who has seen narcissism up front and close, there was nothing more accurate than some of the feelings that poured through the book.

If you love dracula and everything horror, blood, and sex, this book is for you!
