Quick read and a true change of pace from my recent endeavors but not my favorite. I am a huge fan of Criminal Minds so any book that gives me serial killer vibes gets a thumbs up from me but there were parts that grated and got under my skin which made it not the most enjoyable.
Firstly, Neena and Josie's friendship was ridiculous, they were each others rebound best friends and kept things from each other - its no wonder they behaved the way they did. Second, the family dynamics were stereotypical - Indian immigrant family of doctors and lawyers; poor white trauma ridden family just trying to get by after suffering a death of a parent. These girls throw themselves into a situation neither of them is prepared for and the unbelievable consequences of that ensue ... I shall not spoil the ending. I know some kids who would love this, other who would be on constant eye roll and throw it back at me... honestly I didn't hate it, I mean 3 stars is still good and recommended in my book, just be careful of the MANY triggers within.

This book was okay. It started off very slow but picked up a lot towards the end. It was definitely trying to do too much - I think if it had stayed as a lost in the woods-esque thriller I would have liked it more. The villains added in the second half were not only unnecessary, they were also terribly cliched, completely one-note, and entirely predictable. All of the characters were one-note and the stupidity of the girls at the beginning of the story made them completely unlikeable.
Overall, not terrible, but certainly not great.

Super slow. And super unrealistic like umm what? I guess there are stories of people finding the will to survive unbelievable circumstances but I'm just like no fucking way.
