I finished the book, so it gets more than 1 star. The main characters got more engaging in the second half of the book after they stopped bitching at each other so I was actually cheering for them not to die by the end, which I suppose is good. But the plot just escalated too abruptly. The flashback or vision or whatever the hell the backstory of the murders was supposed to be was just weird and kind of gross. And the denouement was an absolute deus ex machina, which never feels satisfying to me.

oh brother…i don’t have much to say except that it was absolutely disgusting 🤢 and i hated the characters, they were so annoying in the first half it wasn’t even funny! it wasn’t super scary (other than disturbingly creepy and not in a good way 😣) or very suspenseful. i now have a fear of camping. and bears. points for it being short and the friendship between the two characters, i liked the ending a little bit at least. but yeah, no development or depth to it whatsoever, it’s definitely a “what’s the point of writing this 😒” kind of book and i would not recommend. the cover and the summary are way better than the whole book was 😐

I read the other book by this author, called There’s Someone Inside Your House I think it was called. I read that about a week ago and it was pretty good, so I think it was automatically comparing this book to that one in my mind and maybe that’s why I didn’t like it as much . Not saying it was bad, I enjoyed it and it was pretty creepy, just not as good as the other book.
It wasn’t a really interesting plot at first, because it took a little bit to pick up and not much was happening for the first 50 pages. But after that, it just kept taking turns and I didn’t see much coming. Pretty good, but kind of forgettable. I enjoyed it though. 3.5 stars
