I feel very sad giving a Stephanie Perkins book only 2 stars because I adore her original romance series. But this was not what I was expecting.

The first almost half of the book is the two main characters trudging through the woods/wilderness whilst complaining the whole time. Then BOOM the story went from 0% - 100% and all the creepy/gory stuff happened.

I like a good scare but this was so icky, definitely not for the faint hearted. There's plenty of detail into injuries, dead bodies and other violent happenings. It also felt very stereotypical of the type of bad guys you'd find out in the woods.

I hope Stephanie Perkins goes back to romance, I enjoy it so much more.

I really liked the other one, but read it a year ago, so I don't know if I feel the same now. The girls in this were annoying to me. They made little to no sense and didn't seem to really like one another all that much. Even when they're trying to reuse each other, which was sweet, they never said a single nice thing about each other other than they were best friends. My best friend and I are so mean to each other it's ridiculous but even we can come up with something nice to say. I saw no reason why they would risk themselves for each other. Their other best friends, that have nothing to do with the plot, are mentioned a ton though. I liked the atmosphere like the other one and kind of liked the plot. The ending felt weird. The girls don't really save themselves at all, 'nature' does. They make wrong decision after wrong decision. Still though, it was a fun read and I'm not necessarily the target audience.

suspense was good but the resolution felt kinda like plot armor in a weird way, other than the conclusion and unrealistic conversation at some points, i enjoyed it

This book was ok, but not as good as “there’s someone inside your House” but I like the book. Firstly, I’m gonna go over the things I didn’t like and one example of a things that did like.  For the things I didn’t like was that the pacing is kind of slow but once you get into the second part, that’s when The action starts and The other thing was the revealed that the villains were
rapists.
(which I did not expect to be in a young adult novel) an one example of a good thing I liked was that I love the main characters and their friendship I was basically rooting for them to kick the main villains ass in the end.

I really wanted to like it...but no. I really liked the other book I read by her, but the constant victim mindset through this one killed it for me. Kept hoping it would turn around but never did.

Wtf

I can definitely see where this book lacked development, but camping/the woods terrify me so it was easy for this book to achieve its goal with me. It left me feeling secure in my decision to stay the hell out of the woods.
