Some really great stories in this collection, but Mr. Lupus was by far my favorite. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I'm sooooooooo sad to end up rating this one a 2-star..

This short story collection took me so long to read. It's only 275 pages, but I feel like one page took me 10 minutes to read and process.
I actually felt dumb reading it, cause I just couldn't get pretty much every single story.

The writing is beautiful and complex and I have no doubt T.E. Grau is a talented author.

This collection just wasn't for me at the present time.

It took me too long to read this collection and I'm kicking myself. I could've been enjoying these wonderful stories so much sooner! I'm familiar with Grau's other work and I know how strong his longer work is. But he is equally adept at writing an engaging and entertaining short story, as is evidenced by every single entry in this collection. His dark imagination is matched only by his turn of phrase and beautifully poetic language. A wonderful book and an author to look out for in the (hopefully not-too-distant) future.

I keep reading these excellent debut horror collections, and I keep having my mind blown. The Nameless Dark is no exception. You pick up this book for its awesome cover art, and you stay for the brilliant, beautiful, terrifying stories. In terms of style and subject matter, Grau sits somewhere between Laird Barron and Nathan Ballingrud. His horrors are scalpel-sharp, but his characters and the stark realism of his domestic minutiae will leave you breathless. every story here is an intricate, unique cage designed specifically to trap you. The thing is, you’ll enjoy every second of your incarceration.

Update. It's been over a year since I've read this and I am still thinking about it. Do yourself a favor. Please read!

I loved everything about this. These stories have stuck in my mind well after I’ve finished reading them. The variety is amazing and there is so much that is unexpected. Even the forward to the book was a great. Will be reading everything of his I can get my hands on.
