challenging
emotional

sad
i'm happy that aiden got his happily ever after. he deserves it
Dark romance is my favorite genre, but I do still occasionally want to take a break from the crazy and read a normal love story. Which is why I picked up this book.
Which turned out to be a mistake.
The best way I can describe this novel... is terribly insipid. All the characters are colorless. Everybody had horrible communication skills. The hero was always drunk. Everybody was so cutesy and underdeveloped. The humor seemed like it came from a sitcom.
And every time the hero would kiss the heroine, he would whisper under his breath, "I'm not worthy" which just... um... was really... really... indescribably cringey. I did not enjoy those scenes, to put it lightly.
Don't know why I stopped reading about the psychos. This was such a bad idea.

fuck this book.
First of all: it was the shitty version of It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.
Second of all: why the FUCK did she end up with THAT ONE? what the fuck is wrong with the author? i’m genuinely asking.
do not read.

okay, i’m doing this again bc when I wrote the review for the first time it was 2 am and I was tired and upset. Still kind of am tbh.
But this book started off so good, I love a good love triangle, the dynamic between the characters was really good, the tension, and the jealousy; i was loving it.
But as I kept on reading I started noticing how it had a ridiculous amount of similarities with It Ends With us, and the fact that IEWU was released in 2016 and this book in 2019…explained a lot tbh.
The character that I liked the most started getting disrespectful asf with Stevie and disgustingly possessive, and I guess it would’ve been good for the plot IF IT WOULD’VE BEEN ADDRESSED AS TOXIC AND MANIPULATIVE AND NOT AS TRUE LOVE ¿???
She basically had a PERFECT MAN who treated her with RESPECT and then a man who left and was possessive even when he was at his prime.
And she STAYED WITH THE CONTROLLING ONE.
Honestly what the fuck.

FRUSTRATED!!!! ANGRY!!!! IM ACTUALLY UPSET! ending completely ruined it for me & I physically couldn’t read the epilogue.
Absolutely no one writes teenage angst like Ella Fields. In this standalone novel, it’s chock full from beginning to end. You should know, this story is a triangle. One that flips sides a lot. Its a bumpy ride, with sharp edges and pointy corners taken at full speed.
While the lead characters struggle to find themselves, the secondary characters hold strong. We should all be blessed with friends that stick like they do.
