dante alighieri’s inferno is one of the texts i’ve been looking forward to devour for many months now and i’m so glad to finally have the chance to sit down and somewhat dissect dante’s extremely dramatic perceptions of hell as briefly as i can to understand why it’s one of the highly acclaimed medieval classics.
just to preface, i am in no way a literature professional nor am i a literature student to have “studied” the text properly so perhaps these sources i’m about to mention might not be accurate enough to describe ‘inferno’ so i’ll leave it up to those who know to help you interpret one of this divine comedy further!

Dante's image of hell is striking, graphic, and a completely novel way of interpreting the seven deadly sins. Of course, this book was first in many things in history, but I found it completely compelling to discover that it was told in first person and that Dante had written the story in two point of views: himself and Dante as a fictional character.
3.5 Stars upon first read.
I think this is one of those stories where you need to read it a couple times to understand and enjoy it. I feel like another read or two and it could be 5 stars.
(Being a fan of Hozier and listening to Unreal Unearth made analyzing both the book and the Album a really fun experience as well)
