A slow read at under 200 pages. I don’t feel as though we see any chemistry or attraction between the two main leads. Felt very flat.

It is a nice, sweet, and light romance perfect for a rainy day (or a snowy one like up here presently). I wish it had a bit more action and content, the majority of the story missing that "oomph" that would have made is a tad more interesting a read than it was. Still, I did like how Hiatt rendered the dialect spoken by the high society of the Regency era.

A slow-paced first chapter, and the characters were too bland to hold my attention.

This was a delightful story, with no surprising twists or turns. Yet I really enjoyed it. It was like a cold glass of lemonade on a very hot day. A wonderful little respite from life in March 2025.

A sorry about veterinarian Brie, and Dex, who's gambling debt means he must introduce her to society. Their love of animals draws them together, while they each have a hard time explaining what they really think.

Dex's sister, Elizabeth, is sweet, and her romance with Garvey is a nice complement to the complicated one between Dex and Brie.

The ending seems a bit rushed, but the book has enough to keep it interesting throughout.

A pleasant regency romance.....
