I had a lot of fun with this YA romantasy that has Bridgerton vibes. Ivy is preparing for her debut season in society and is expected to make a bargain with England's immortal fae queen that will help her find a husband. When Ivy learns that this season is actually a competition to win the crown prince's hand in marriage, Ivy signs up immediately in order to save her family from social and financial ruin. Of course Ivy catches the eye of the other prince, Emmett, as she is pulled into this world for faeries and royalty. While this book has many of the typical romantasy tropes, I had fun with this one and I thought the tropes were done well. Except maybe the love triangle trope, which is just not my favorite and I almost never enjoy them.

The middle section felt a little slower, but the beginning and ending moved at a good pace and kept me wanting to read more. The trials in the competition were interesting and I liked that some of the chapters were from the other girls' POVs because I do feel like I got to see their motivations for entering the competition and what they wanted from their lives. I feel like I can't say too much about the actual plot without giving it away, but I am actually curious about how book 2 is going to go so I will definitely be reading it when it comes out.

This was surprisingly excellent! I wouldn't have picked it up on my own, but tried it because of a recommendation, and I'm really glad I did.
While the writing style is somewhat simple and the pace is quick, the story thoroughly pulled me in and made me want to keep picking up the book to find out what happens next. Reminded me of the type of book I would've loved in high school so felt nostalgic in a way. I also wasn't expecting the different points of view from all the other lady characters to crop up, but that really brought the story to another level. This is also an example of the love triangle trope done well! Fantastic plot twist too.

And the way the story unfolded throughout was interesting so I wasn't bored anticipating or trying to guess what the plot twist would be. I'm so looking forward to the sequel, and I don't feel that way about a lot of books, even when left on a cliff hanger.
Pleased to have read a fantasy story that incorporates faeries in the way that I love too - kind of creepy, with distorted yet beautiful features, and an interesting background with the humans of the world.
Many books I've read lately have started off strong but then lag at some point, but I can happily say that this one only continued to get more and more intriguing. Finally a fantasy five star read!

I didn't have very high expectations for this one… it was kind of an impulse buy when I visited my cousin in Italy.
I liked the book, it was enjoyable and entertaining but it was a bit too simple for me. a lot of the things that happened were a bit convenient and the big plot twist at the end was both predictable and unbeliaveble. the Lydia part was the predictable one, but the one about Bram was a bit out of the blue and there is nothing to support it. I know the reader is not supposed to catch up but going back you see no clue or proof that the big revelation was there from the beginning, if you know what I mean…

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First of all, this cover is gorgeous. I got the small hardcover and this is the first hardcover I really love while reading. The lay-out is also pretty.
I loved the idea of the story so much. It reminds me of a mix of bridgerton and powerless. Easy to read, well-written and fast paced. It ends kind of open and there's going to be a second book next year which I'm very excited about!!
