⭐⭐⭐ It was okay, ignoring the issues for a fun read (average not a standout)
The rules were clear to everyone: Gracie Hutton was off-limits. However, Tyler Bateman has never been one to adhere to rules. Now, she's poised to become his ultimate temptation. Tyler has never experienced an easy day, working hard for everything he has. Hockey is his refuge, a passion he never anticipated. He aims to succeed, to prove his worth. He never expected her to be significant, didn't want her to be. Yet, she has different plans, and now his best friend's sister is on the verge of disrupting his life. And he might just allow it.
Something about this series is just not hitting for me, I dont know if it's that it's written for immature or just overly dramatic but it is not a stand out for me. It is very fast paced (so again that could be the issue), a lot happens and it is very action packed. I love the brother's best friend trope but FUCK ME, Oakley was RIDICULOUS in this book like bro chill your sister is not a bay. Given how OTT Oakley was I was expecting the sneaking around to go on for longer. I think too much is packed into a short book. I yo-yoed about wether or not I liked Tyler so much through but by the end I really enjoyed him as character. I LOVED Gracie as a FMC though, she was really strong fmc and stands up to the people that deserve it. I felt like the twist was glossed over as well as a loss that occurs towards the end. I am unsure if more will be developed in the next novella. I will definitely return to Hannah's book but these books are giving ✨debut author✨.
Tropes: sports romance (hockey), brother's best friend, no third act break up
Triggers: childhood abuse, absentee mother, toxic sibling, loss of a parent(s)

for me
No just no. I wanted to like this book. But I didn’t. I will say the second half is wayyy better than the first but still bad. First of all this book seems to be a standolone but it relies a lot on the first book and the explanations it gives are bad. Like the barest things ever. The plot is all over the place. I didn’t like how he slept with her best friend idc when it was. I also don’t like how for literally forever he was denying that he liked her. He acted all crazy about her but then would say he didn’t like her. It was stupid. Also for a brothers best friend romance he found out about them in like the first ten minutes. Also they didn’t seem that close. Like best friends seems a stretch. I wasn’t a fun of this book. The couple was cute at the end but the beginning was horrible and the middle was eh. I wouldn’t recommend. The book was just all over the place and seemed like it didn’t really have one cohesive goal/storyline. 2/5

Fine. Don’t love that it recaps the entirety of the 1.5 book. Makes reading that one feel pointless.

I inhaled this book. I’m not gonna lie, Gracie being so confident in herself and who she is as a woman, is the only reason Tyler got so many chances to screw up before he got his head out of his self loathing ass. The sexual chemistry was 100% but also the emotional chemistry was so good too. These two were like oil and water but I loved that they learned to trust each other so deeply. Such a good book and the friendship dynamic is also so cute!
