This book was ok, not really my kind of thing however I did find the story interesting and the world building was very good. Overall however I did find it difficult to gget into and if i'd not read it for a book group i'd have found it difficult to finish.

This is a tale set in a well-painted world, the main reason why I am giving it 4 stars. It took me a moment to settle into it, but once I got the hang of the spirit world, everything clicked. The narrative really draws you in, keeps a great pace, and immerses you in its colorful realm.

Now, let's talk about the romance part. It felt a bit rushed, to be honest. I couldn't quite grasp why the characters were head over heels for each other when they had such limited interaction. Also, the age of the protagonist caught me off guard. I'm uncertain if it aligns with the myth on which the story is based, but it felt somewhat unnecessary. (I rationalized it by considering the historical context, though it still felt a tad uncomfortable due to the age gap.)

On a different note, I think one of my favorite parts in the story is the gods versus humans debate, it really makes you think and reflect, and it gives a very human depth to the story. Overall, I really enjoy it.

Fast plot but no investment, middle grade writing and story, too young for me
