2.5 rounded up to 3. Protagonist Lexie’s father left her family when she was eight years old and my lord I would have thrown this book out window if the author mentioned it one more time.

This was a cozy and delightful read perfect for the holiday season. I loved Lexie and Theo’s love story and the subplot with the travel was really fun and interesting too. Thank you to Dell and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a charming book for those wishing they could tag along with some exciting group trips with adventure and cultural experiences.

Lexie has no idea how fortunate she is to learn that her father has left her with half of his travel company in his will. She is told that the other half is now in the hands of Theo who has been working for her father for five years. Of course, Lexie is beautiful, Theo is handsome and they are both single. We all know what will happen and yet, there has to be more to the story.

It's ideally a book one would want to read in a weekend at a ski lodge sitting in a cozy chair. Yet, for those of us with plenty of imagination and a bowl of chips, we will make due. Lexie has a stubborn side and doesn’t want to feel compelled to follow her dad’s goal in life with the company in Bath, England even though it seems like so much fun. It’s a love story and very predictable although Lexie is in need of a good therapist to address father issues. It’s a quick, girly book and it comes together with a satisfactory ending.

My thanks to Dell and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book with an expected release date of October 15, 2024.

What a pleasant surprise!

I’ve read more than a few lackluster holiday romances this year - saccharine books that ultimately lack any kind of real depth, with the kinds of plots that seem more like punchlines about Hallmark movies rather than something to be taken seriously. And so this book, revolving around a holiday-themed travel company, written by an author who has only written holiday-themed books, didn’t initially inspire much hope. How happy I was to be wrong!

This book is so much more than cutesy trips and stolen kisses though, to be fair, there are plenty of both. Taking place in the year following her father’s death, this book follows Lexie on a journey of self-discovery as she learns what it means to grieve under complicated circumstances.

I do wish Theo had been more fleshed out. As it stood, I enjoyed reading as their relationship unfurled but he was still largely an enigma, or maybe a bit one-dimensional compared to Lexie. Either way, still a solid read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Random House/Ballantine for the advanced reader copy of this book, provided in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

A story that explores grief in a magnificent way! Lexie was very relatable and it’s refreshing to read a story that explores real life consequences and emotions related to grief and loss. Even though it’s a heavy theme, the banter is fabulous and I’m always a sucker for enemies to lovers.

Thank you netgalley and Ballantine/Dell for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Every family has holiday traditions, some wear crazy sweaters, some wear matching pajamas and other open ones gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on the Day. Well Lexie’s Dad started a tradition with her family every Christmas since she was 3 years old they picked somewhere to travel and spend Christmas there, and they would plan it all year. The first year was Germany for the famous Christmas markets. Well, when Lexie was 7 years old those trips ended when her dad left her mom for another woman and her parents got divorced.

Lexie never lost her love of travel all those years later, but her relationship with her dad was never the same. She never knew why he didn’t have time for her and after a while she wouldn’t let him in. Then her father dies and she didn’t even know he was sick. She is asked by one of her father’s employees to come to the office the following week after the funeral. Lexie knew that her father had started up a business after he left his second wife, but didn’t know what type of business. At this meeting she finds out her father left her and Theo one of his employees half the business - R&L Travel. Lexie doesn’t want the business, the solicitor/ lawyer says the will states that they must run the company for a year together before they can sell it. Lexie is unsure about this, all she wants to do is go back to her wanderlust life.

This book was cute. Not the typical Christmas time book I’ve read before. I love the concept of Lexie’s dad’s travel company, traveling the world through celebration of holidays, festivals and traditions. The book did drag on in parts, but overall I very much enjoyed this book. This was my very first book by Emily Stone and I look forward to discovering more of them.

Thank you NetGalley and Random HousePublishing Group for- Ballantine | Dell for this eARC for my honest review.
