Which one of you is gonna make this book (and basically the lives of these amazing and badass women) into a Tv show?
I'll be waiting.

The art is gorgeous. I wasn't a huge fan of the author's language and tone, because I think it took away from the awesome things all these ladies did. It also felt largely like a political commentary on our day, instead of emphasizing how what these ladies did changed our day.

This is like an inclusive, feminist fist bump of a hug. <3

I did actually like this quite a bit. For one, it lived up to its name.

As someone who considers themselves fairly well-read in terms of feminist history, anthologies like these can sometimes cover the same people all the time. But to my pleasant surprise, I had only heard of about 6 of the 52 women mentioned in this book (and that's because 2 of them have had TV shows made about them since the publishing of this book). These were not your Eleanor Roosevelts and Rosa Parks. These weren't even your Grace Hoppers and Rosalind Franklins. These were women I had no idea existed, and loved reading about so many amazing women that I had never heard of before!

In general, it was still a little United States and Europe heavy, but there were women from South America, Africa, and all parts of Asia, so it was not purely pigeonholed with western women. However, as a white woman, I can't actually speak for how well the writing about women of color was done.

This was written in a very informal style, which is fine, but there were definitely a few times where it crossed over into cringey. That would be my main complaint with the book.

Oh, also the illustrations were gorgeous, so that is a pro. So overall, I did like the book. I feel like I learned a lot and I have so many women to research more about now.

Amazingly beautiful and inspiring women. Each woman's story was fascinating and how they changed society. My favorites were stagecoach Mary Davis, Prima Ballerina Maria Tallchief, playwright Lorraine Hansberry, Sayyida Al-Hurra, Alice Ball, Sarah Breedlove (Madam CJ Walker), Juliette Gordon Low. I love the colorful and beautiful illustrations of each woman. Mackenzi Lee is a great, entertaining author. Lee should write a sequel to this book. Great book for Women's History Month!
