Heart-touching. Deeply moving. Such terms describe this little short story the best. It is a story of familial love and racism, of estrangement between a Chinese mother who can breathe life into origami and her half-Chinese son who begins to view her as the source of the racism he faces and consequently begins to resent her.

I shall write no more. Go, read this story, and be prepared to cry.

This is a very short story but it had me bawling like crazy, and I like how real it feels and I'm sure you can say it's a true story, but regardless of what it is... I needed something like this (thanks rayhanah)

Powerful and packs a punch. This completely broke me, left me spiraling in an existential crisis, and now I'm too scared to read the rest of Liu's stories because I know they'll break what little is left of my spirit. So naturally I have to give this 5 stars
