This book was incredibly well written and told a gripping story. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I don't think that I will read the next one, but I do not regret reading this one.

Although I deeply resonated with the 2-star reviews for this book and do not care to know what happens next, I’m giving this book a 3 because #blackvoices and also because I think the author did a decent job of highlighting racism, bullying, and global economic disparities. I just wish the storytelling was better and more believable

Really creative and captivating, though I liked the beginning more than the end.

Cute, original, and imaginative fantasy. I really enjoyed the setting  in Nigeria and having aspects of Nigerian culture within every part of the book

It was cute story and I loved the magic system. The pacing was strange.

“Biology, she thought as she worked, breathing through her mouth. She didn’t want to smell the raw flesh. Think of biology class. She enjoyed biology eagerly taking in the readings about micro organisms, animal systems, vertebrates, and invertebrates.”
