My Thoughts:
This was a rather delightful book. Sara was so sassy, had humour and at the same time she was vulnerable.

Magicians rose up all over the world and took over. Now "normal" people work as servants for the high and might who rule the world.

Then there is Sara, who suddenly has magical powers. Her employers are scared that the higher ups will blame them and she is embraced into the family as one of them. In comes Cassandra Reed, who is sent to school to learn magic, and manners.

I liked the whole boarding school setup. There is the mean girl clicque, those who try to hide. Dances with the boy academy. It all works really well. Her "aunt" is never far away either as the boarding school is close by. She will get new friends and learna few lessons. Magical and non magical.

I liked Mrs Winter, her former employer. She was so proper, but underneath it all there is someone kind.

Everyone was delightful, and the baddies were wicked and needed a kick in the behind.

A fun YA that has a bit of everything. Friendship, magic, romantic feelings and an interesting world that is about to change.

I do recommend it, to YA fans and to adults.

Narration:
She was perfect for Cassandra at 14, and then she was perfect as Mrs Winter (and now I can hear her voice in my head to sit up straight.)

The narrator did a great job on the audiobook with the different character accents and really brought it to life for me. Super light easy read and just what I was in the mood for. Even when it was pretty predictable and simple, I just didn’t mind for some reason because it was still enjoyable.

I really liked this book. The author says on her website that she wrote it for her 14 year old. My 14 year old self would have loved this and my almost 40 year old self enjoyed it as well. I look forward to reading the next one.

I loved this book!

I'm a huge fan of Molly Harper's Nice Girls series, but I was cautious about following her into YA. It turns out that my worry was for nothing, as I think this is now my favorite book of hers. As in: Stay Up Way Too Late Because I Can't Stop Reading, Sad That I Finished good.

Recommended for fans of: Gail Carriger's Etiquette and Espionage series, Sorcery and Celia, & misfit snarky, spunky, heroines.

Hello my loves ! I’m back with another book review.

First of all, I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me to read this lovely book.

Let’s get into it!

This story takes place in a world where magical people, the Guardians, rule over non-magical people, the Snipes. Snipes have to serve a Guardian family for life to earn their keep.

The story centers on Sarah Smith and her family, who work for the Winters. Sarah has been a very frail and sick child. Until one day, its discovered that Sarah can do magic.

She then takes on a new persona and new life and is sent to a magical school for girls, where she learns to control her powers.

It’s a book about friendship, love and justice.

Sarah…
Sarah aka Cassandra is such a good character. I really liked her. Even though she is living this alternate life where she is supposed to be this really good witch and be a member of the high-class, she still manages to stay true to herself and her values.

…and her friends
I loved the friendships in this book. They’re so wholesome and cute. Her friends have been through so much in their lives and they’re still so nice and warm towards Sarah, even when they find out that she’s basically been lying to them.

The Plot Twist
OMG! I did not see that coming. I thought she was Sarah's only friend.Turns out I was wrong.

My opinion
This was really good book, with really cute interesting characters, a love interest that didn’t consume and completely blind the MC (thank god) ,really cute friendship and super interesting family dynamics.

I think everyone should read it.

I can’t wait for the next book.

I gave this book 4/5 ⭐

That is all for today. I’m sorry it took so long to post this, but I’m lazy.

Have a lovely day and I’ll see you soon!

Sarah Smith is a young woman who shouldn’t be. She was born into a family with no magic yet she seems to have quite a bit. To keep all who know the truth out of trouble Sarah is taken under the wing of her family employer and is transformed into Cassandra Reed. Cassandra gets to go to school and learn about magic and live a life that Sarah had no chance at. She is chosen by a powerful magic artifact her first day at school. She learns about friendship and she and her two bff’s prevent a zombie apocalypse ala Harry Potter. This is a well written fantasy and I really want more. This is a book with female heroines you can be proud of. I heartily recommend.

You never want to say anything bad about a book because the author tried. The book was interesting, it just wasn’t outstanding. The plot twists weren’t really plot twists because you could tell from the beginning that they were going to happen. Most of the book was cliche. I feel like it had a lot of potential just the writing was rather weak.

I quite enjoyed this. It’s kind of like Harry Potter, but with female characters at the center, which I greatly appreciated.
