A lovely companion for 6 months, great to read in small chunks. Funny and engaging, an interesting insight into secondhand bookselling.

I made it almost 8 hrs through the audiobook. Around hour 4 I realized I was getting bored with this book and by another hour or two into it I realized I also thought the author was a jerk! While the premise is fascinating and there were a few laugh out loud moments at the beginning, it has quickly devolved into listening to repetitive complaints about the trials of running a book shop and making fun of customers. No thanks.

It was interesting to start with but it was a bit repetitive by the end. There's only many different things that happen which makes sense, but it may have been better to condense or skip those days.
Also I get the slightly rude attitude towards customers, but I was really put off by the way the author talked about libraries and library books. Most people into books really appreciate libraries and it was so jarring reading those comments about them.
I did enjoy this book at the star, but it felt a bit like a chore to finish. There was nothing particularly gripping but I suppose that's what it's supposed to be. It's a regular person's diary for a year, which for most people isn't that interesting aside from a few key things.
I heard he's releasing another book and I'm not sure if I'll bother with it.

An insight into the workings of an independent bookshop and bookseller.
Its a book that I found to be both really insightful and at times really repetitive.
There are only so many times I want to read the same situation about the same character multiple times.

However, I feel like I learnt a lot from this book and have listed recommended reads and ways of collecting.

Insightful, entertaining and at times educational.
Not great, but certainly not bad!

Strangely mesmerising and addictive because of the mundanity of many of the entries. It made me laugh too and reminded me of happy days spent in my Dad's bookshop. Customers really can be that daft. Not quite 4 stars - I have to know I'd recommend it for that rating, and I'm not sure I would to many people. I also found myself worrying that the people the author was being so rude about would read it - I don't suppose he cares in the slightest but I didn't like him very much!
