Tuck Everlasting

A very well-written book where not much happens. That's usually not a problem. There are well-explored ideas, great images, and the language and flow of the book is wonderful. The central idea is the kind of thing I love, too-- and the subtle poems on the periphery (Jesse) that really work.

yuck lol

Read this with my 5th grade class. The kids loved it and especially had an attachment to the toad. The little reappearance of the toad at the end of the book made them all gasp, which I loved. The book kept them guessing all throughout and I’d definitely recommend all teachers giving this one a shot.

Added note: the movie is very different and a lot more romance heavy. I enjoyed the book much more.
