Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit is one of those books I feel like I see on everyone's bookshelf at one point or another. It was the paperback to have. Both Erin and I both had copies when we first got together (we did only keep 1 of them).
Winnie Foster is tired of being an 11-year-old only child. She dreams of running away from the constant doting and worrying of her parents and grandparents. She takes off into the woods one morning and runs into Jesse Tuck, a cute teenage boy, lolligagging in HER family's woods! The nerve of him!
Jesse, like the simple soul he is, unburies a hidden little spring and tastes a nice cool drink on a hot summer day... now Winnie thinks this is a great idea! It's friggin hot out, and her family owns the woods, so they own the stream, too. Well, we can't have Winnie going and drinking magic immortality water!
So, him and his mom kidnap her. The Tucks are a sweet and tragic family. Accidentally becoming immortal has ruined everything for them, but there are darker forces at work searching for the Tuck's and their secret...
I know, you'd think the big twist was immortal rednecks, but it's not.

What a wonderful book! I loved reading and listening to this story. this was the first book I was ever mad at because of the ending. Now that I'm older the ending makes sense and I'm proud of her for making her own decision. Winifred and Jesse forever!

Still I wish Winifred and Jesse would have been able to explore their possible relationship.*sigh* There is always fan fiction I suppose.

Better than I remember but Winnieās age still throws me off. I also still think them bringing her back to their cabin feels awkward because the author didnāt build the characters motivation very well. Still a fun read if you can ignore those.

This was a reflective short read. My only criticism is that the Tuck family both had no dreams to grow. They felt stuck mentally. I didnāt connect with the characters. For a family thatās immortal, they didnāt seem to have any chemistry.
