Great book! A good choice for 5th graders.
"Doomed to - or blessed with - eternal life after drinking from a magic spring, the Tuck family wanders about trying to live as inconspicuously and comfortably as they can. When ten-year-old Winnie Foster stumbles on their secret, the Tucks take her home and explain why living forever at one age is less a blessing that it might seem. Complications arise when Winnie is followed by a stranger who wants to market the spring water for a fortune."

This book was very slow and way to detailed. I like detail but Natalie Babbitt went into a little too much detail. I read it for school in 6th grade and I did not like it.

I waited to long to read this book. I've known about it for forever but never got my hands on it til last week. When I did I simply dove through it for the entire car ride. It was beautifully written and so thought-provoking and sad as well. It definitely made me think about what I would do if I was Winnie Foster. Highly recommended.
For some reason this book was say too scary for me to finish when I was little (it's the only book that ever was)--I guess it was because I had a lot of existential angst (I also wasn't allowed to hear about global warming after the first time for similar reasons)
This book was a big part of my childhood. The story has stuck with me ever since I read it. When a book sticks with you that long, I think it merits a 5 star rating.
