Re-reading some of my childhood faves. I don't think I ever saw the movie version of this, but for some reason I remember a lot more happening in this book and was surprised at how quickly the story was over.

In an interview in the back of this edition, Natalie Babbitt says she thinks her books are wordy! I beg to differ: This slim 138-page novel is elegantly written. It gets the job done, despite the concept being a little under-explored.

HOW DID THEY CUT DOWN THE TREE?????
