I was really disappointed in this book. It was a quick read for sure, but I felt like there was really nothing to it. We know very little about any of the characters and I found it odd that Jesse, who was 17, but really 104, was telling a 10 year old girl he would be with her once she turned 17. I don’t know, it just didn’t sit well with me.

The ending was super abrupt and left me not feeling fulfilled at all. The kids listened to the first few chapters and seemed interested, but the farther we got into the story, the less they even wanted to listen.

I guess I was just expecting a lot more for this children’s classic.

I remember loving this book when I was a child and it was really disheartening to reread it and it not be up to what I remember it to be. I felt that it was like that was exactly what I was reading, A children's book. I love the storyline and I think if it were more young adult this story would be even better. I also probably gave it such a low rating because I really (SPOILER) wanted Winnie to stay with the family.

the romance is creepy. it’s so creepy, y’all. he’s way older than her?

"don't be afraid of death; be afraid of an unlived life. you don't have to live forever, you just have to live."

This book has been one of my favorite for as long as I can remember. It’s innocent. It’s a quick read. I love the mora of the story.
