Great book. Written by Jeannette Walls (The Glass Castle) about her grandmother's life and thus gives insights into her mother's life (late teens/early 20's). I want to go back and read The Glass Castle. Really enjoyed.

This completely makes The Glass Castle make sense. True story of her grandmother, mother....... I want to read The Glass Castle again.

Jeannette Walls is able to capture the narrative voice so well. This was a great read - her grandmother was a fascinating woman. Especially considering the time period in which she lived. I can't wait until Walls comes out with another book.

I didn't really know what I was expecting, and I still don't know how I feel about this book. On one hand, once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. On the other hand, I kept questioning its authenticity. How could one person live a life like this? Walls herself admits that she took facts that she knew to be real and stories she had heard but that she filled in some of the details, so it's in between fiction and nonfiction. But still. I just can't believe this was one person's life.

I flew through the last part of this book on the train ride home today and while I was cooking dinner. I guess lots of short chapters are good for something. ;)
