Rounded up to 2.5. Okay, so as you can see this wasn’t my favourite by Nicole Trope. It was all pretty meh, and when it launched into the epilogue at 83% (the remainder was an extract from The Family Across the Street - a much better book) I was honestly shocked that was all there was to the story - talk about predictable! RTC.
Nicole Trope is one of my absolute favorite authors and she has truly outdone herself with this book! The lies, the suspense, the questions, the shock!!!! The first half of the story was bizarre (in the best ways) and suspenseful and the second half of the book was jaw dropping reveal after jaw dropping reveal! And that epilogue!!!! The best kind of psychological thriller is the one where the epilogue changes EVERYTHING and this was exactly that. Even when you think the plot twists are over you get hit with one 100x bigger. Absolutely loved this book and highly recommend!

Her chest tightens, her heart speeding up. The kitchen is chaos. She steps on something hard, and looks down. Toy dinosaurs are scattered everywhere. But her son is nowhere – her baby boy is gone.
An entertaining popcorn thriller with lots of juicy twists and turns. Set in Sydney, Australia we follow Andrea, heavily pregnant and mother of a three-year-old. Gabby, her new neighbour and a mother to a teenage son. They develop a friendship, until something terrible happens and things quickly spiral out of control. This has it all - unreliable narrators, palpable feelings of a mother’s desperation, an emotional roller-coaster, mental health issues, fraud and deceit and an exploration into relationships - and how well we really know someone. I flew through this, and cannot wait to read more from Nicole Trope! Highly recommended!

This is a quick, entertaining psychological thriller set in Australia. The book is told through two points-of-view, Andrea and Gabby. Andrea, a young mother who is due any day with her second child. She knows that her husband is keeping secrets from her, but doesn't know the whole story of what he's hiding. Gabby was already living across the street when Andrea and her family move into the neighborhood. Gabby talks a lot about her husband and her teenaged son, but it's clear pretty early on that something is off with her. There is a strong sense of foreboding that something bad is going to come from these two women forming a friendship. Some of the details of the story didn't add up for me, but Iike all the plot twists, especially the final one at the very end of the book. I have other books by this author on my to-be-read list and after reading this enjoyable book, I'm really looking forward to reading them.

It took me a while to get into the book, but I don’t think that had anything to do with the book, more on me and my headspace. Once I fully engaged though, it gripped me. We had two POV: Andrea, young mother and wife and Gabby, older mother who lives across the street. There are some twists and some turns and I expected & guessed a few of them but the end surprised me. I love when books keep me on my toes.

This was a fast paced thriller and an easy, quick read. My first book from this author and I will be checking out more. I could not put this down because i needed to know what was going on! The suspense was great and I enjoyed the split pov. However, I did find the twist to be very predictable and was exactly what I was expecting. Characters were a bit bland in my opinion so, that is why I gave it 3 stars but I still enjoyed this read.
