The experience of reading this book feels like I’ve binge watched multiple tv series seasons. It’s constant action, high stakes (kind of), but I’m a character driven reader, so I’ve missed depth in the story and world-building. It feels like author has done all the character study and world- building in the first book, and decides that it’s enough, he focuses on action. Some characters reappear, but it feels a bit out of need. You can never know who might “resurrect”, who might die, complete plot course changes happen, but it’s driven out of constant fast-paced, action-packed need of a plot. Some character’s decisions, actions contradict their main beliefs, and it also feel like it serves the plot. Reading this book literally feels like binge watching few seasons of a tv show.
In general, it‘s entertaining, it‘s still properly grim dark, „fuck my face“ never gets old. The illustrations are beatiful.
In my case, I‘ve lost interest few times. I‘m not a action-packed, fast-paced plot reader, so I‘m not even sure if I‘ll continue with the series.
