3.5/5 - I liked the coincidences within this book, but it felt like there were too many.

So sad. I’m not sure I would recommend this to anyone. It’s told very well, but I hate to see animals get hurt, so that makes me not want to recommend it. That’s it. Those few paragraphs that I skipped were worth reading the entire thing though. Poor Libby, I’m glad she’s a character in a book and not in the real world.

DNF half way through. Hated all Of the characters. I felt underwhelmed and bored.

Dnf @ 43%

Another book where you think you have it all figured out but you are oh so wrong. Much darker than Sharp Objects but it was great.

Gillian flynn never disappoints. She is always able to keep you guessing and throw you for twist and turns. An issue I have with a lot of books is the writing not flowing well, jumping around and confusing. This book flows well, it does jump around but she writes it in a way that you can still follow not confusing.

I'm not going to lie, I knew what I was getting myself into when i bought Dark Places, I've learned from Gillian's other books that dark and morbid thoughts were laid before me yet I continued to still pick up the book and read it page by page knowing I will later have nightmares. Libby Day survived a massacre that happened within the walls of the house she grew up in. The killer believed to be her brother who in his younger years was believed to be involved in satanic rituals including sacrifice is now locked away in prison for the killing of his mother and sisters. As the chapters rolled on we soon discover Libby may not know what all had happened that gruesome night and comes face to face with the truth.
