Passed from relative to relative as a child, Kallie Masterson may have survived to become an excellent wilderness guide, but she's insecure in all of her personal relationships. Hotel owner Jake Hunt has sworn off relationships after the tragic death of his submissive, but when Kallie's wilderness guide business and Jake's wilderness lodge plan on working together to create kinky weekend camping trips, Kallie and Jake have to work together. They're drawn together as he teaches her about BDSM, but unbeknownst to both of them, a serial killer is stalking Kallie on the mountain.

This is a wonderful romance novel from Cherise Sinclair. Both Jake and Kallie have been wounded by their earlier life experiences, and their relationship with each other allows both of them to heal. The serial killer plot line isn't quite as well integrated with the rest of the story as I would like it to be, but it's still good. It's definitely worth a read, especially if you like kinky romance novels.

Another great and quick read by Cherise Sinclair.
I must admit that I was a little nervous to read these books, but I don't know why. The plot is tight, the writing is great and the nexxus with book 1 and 1.5 are just right.

I really liked Kallie and I liked Jake. I really don't think Kallie is a "sub" but that she is okay ceding control to Jake because she trusts and loves him. But either way, I like how the author took time to build their relationship. I look forward to trying the other series.

I absolutely love the way she writes her Doms! I have yet to find one that I do not love and want to actually meet in person.

I love that she also writes her heroins not the norm looking girls that everyone uses in their books. She writes them like the average woman. Curvy and soft. Not stick skinny and bony. I always look forward to reading her books. I couldn't wait to see what happened with Jake, we got to meet him in the first book. We also get to see Logan and Rebecca again from the first book. I love how she incorporates the people from the other books throughout her series.

Anywhoo I like that Kallie is just like one of the guys and not the hot one that everyone wants so there for not many notice her. She is deep down a beautiful person and doesn't take crap from people. I love that Jake who everyone in town wants to be his special someone takes notice of this one girl who doesn't feel pretty enough or just plain enough for him. She constantly thinks to herself that he can do better. She doesn't feel confident like the other women who are in town. So there for she does not feel that he would ever notice her as anything more than 'one of the guys', or a good friend.

That all changes...for him its the minute he tells her to do something and she instantly does as she is told, which lets him know she is submissive even if she doesn't know she is. They learn a little more about each other when she has to go to a get together they have at their Lodge. Have to say that it was interesting to see it all play out, and where things go and play out in the book.

Cherise does add in a bit of suspense and I do enjoy that mixed in with my bdsm ;) somethin to make ya wonder what is going to happen next. As I read I knew something was off and going to happen but wasn't sure what. I thought I had it all figured out I will say that much and usually I can guess pretty well. I thought it was obvious, to me at least.

This book to me didn't feel as though it was all sex with no connection and no plot I am sure many who read an erotic book, well this is what they think if it isn't their normal read. I have always had a special liking to Mrs. Sinclair! I love her books so far and will continue to read her work. :)

This was a great story, The Dom had a mysterious and sad past and the Sub has a depressing past then they get together, She realizes that she is submissive. mix it in with a crazy psyco serial killer who gets off on killing dark haired woman, And guess what? yep you guessed it she has dark hair.

One of my favorite BDSM romances that I've ever read. The hero, Jake, is scarred by his ex-girlfriend's death and so has decided to do only one night stands with women, but despite that he's really loving and caring and all in all hasn't permitted his past to turn him into an asshole. Despite trying to resist his feelings for Kallie, he falls head over heels for her and can't resist training her as his submissive. I loved the erotic moments, I loved the romantic moments, I loved the serial killer subplot, i loved Kallie's overbearing cousins, I loved how Jake and Kallie's relationship progressed, problems and all. Cherise Sinclair really impressed me with this book, it's very nicely written.

I liked this one, but didn't love it. I wasn't really a fan of the h, mostly because I don't like "tomboy" heroines, but it's still worth the read!

Another captivating instalment. I love Jake. He is a great mix of tortured soul and sweet protector. one little discrepancy though - in the first book i am sure that Logan told Rebecca that Jake got his scar when he had tried to wake Logan up from a nightmare and he attacked him, yet in this book Jake says he got the scar from waking him up when there was a problem with the cattle on their ranch. I like the twist with Mimi - i am glad that Jake can be alleviated of some of the guilt he felt over that. Andrew was a total nutter and i would've liked to see his end be a little more dramatic. I never really warmed to Kallie though. I like her background story and the whole feeling unloved aspect but i didn't like the whole macho dress like a man thing. The steamy scenes were definitely heatwave material. Not really into the whole exhibitionist thing but each of their interactions was off the charts with the tension and heat.

Angst, psychodrama, and a serial killer/stalker. Normally this combination would have me running for the hills, but Sinclair is somehow able to put together in a way that I enjoyed. It's not my favorite of hers, but if you liked her previous books (or early Elizabeth Lowell) you're likely to enjoy it.

minus points for misrepresentation of mental illness (tw: suicide, depression, bipolar) and constant reinforcement of gender roles? ?? too much toxic masculinity being thrown around super weird

This was a heartwarming read filled with the community spirit I've come to expect from Sinclair. That said, I found the way the two main characters came together unrealistic. All I could think of was the potential employment lawsuits!

I really appreciated the scenes with the watcher, which are proof that Sinclair is capable of writing much gritter stuff than we've seen in the CS and MM&DH series'.
