i literally closed this book and said 'wow that was dumb'
firstly, there's no reason it needed to be told in reverse order. it wasn't THAT clever. it would have been perfectly fine to tell it chronologically.
secondly, ending who? resolution where? the way it wrapped up was all very strange and sudden and wasn't nearly satisfying enough to count as a ending
and thirdly, am i supposed to like these characters, or root for any of them? cause i wasn't a fan of any of them, especially jule and imogen.
wouldn't really recommend.

unsatisfying ending, didn’t explain the main characters motives

that was a wild ride.

Meh. It was interesting, but the ending left a lot to be desired and it felt gimmick-y in parts.

A very interesting read. I didn't love it as much as We Were Liars, but the concept was interesting. I liked reading the book in it's reverse chronology however, it sometimes made details harder to remember, and I found myself looking back. It was a fast paced novel, that I couldn't wait to finish in order to figure out where it ended (or in this case how it started).
medium-paced

I have a soft spot for books about unhinged women, but this one felt like wasted potential

A little slow to start and it took me a bit to pick up on the story told backward format but very enjoyable read and not at all what I was expecting which e. Lockhart is usually good for

I had to go back and write a timeline for this book since I was confused about what was happening when. The book begins with chapter 18 and counts down to chapter 1 and then finishes with chapter 19. Jule is a girl who reinvents herself as Imogene. Most of her life is based on stories she has made up to convince people that she is something she is not. This book is heavily influenced by The Talented Mr. Ripley. It is good, but it is certainly not as good as the author’s previous book, We Were Liars.

An interesting book and extremely unique book about friendship and identity that starts at the end and ends at the beginning.
