I have watched the tv episode of this which I was that fussed about. Definitely has a better ending in the book.
It pains me to give a Goosebumps book less than at minimum 4 stars. But it wasn't particularly terrifying.
I do enjoy the concept of the cuckoo clock. I was going to say something else but then I realized that the thing I was about to say wasn't mentioned on the back of the book.
First thirty or so pages are dedicated to setting up the motivation behind messing with the clock (and I'm not going to lie, I hate the sister and I'm not a fan of the parents either) so I absolutely don't blame him for doing what he did. As a side note, I'm a year older (probably less than) than the sister.
I spent the rest of the book with a mild sense of mildly increasing horror. Until the end. And then it was just satisfaction. The last couple of paragraphs was probably my favorite part of the book.

Not one I especially loved, back in the day or now. Not a fan of the premise or the ending. Mediocre Goosebumpery at best.
I'm a sucker for time travel. I read this book as a kid, and it stuck with me into adulthood. I could still recall the basic plot, as well as specific details about Michael's journey through the past. Tara's comeuppance is still sweet (even if Michael is a little scary). My favorite Goosebumps book by far.
A Goosebumps children book that has the theme of a terrible sister - are you surprised? It's a common element in almost all these books I've read this year. Tara the terrible may be the worst - what an awful human being, she takes sibling brattness too far. The end has a nice twist about her at least. It's not as good as the others I've been reading, a little frustrating because he has to keep repeating a few terrible days, groundhog style. Stine dug into time travel with the cuckoo clock - how does he think of all this stuff? - but would have had more oomph if the character could have changed his reactions.

What is he gonna do to fix things?
This was a nice quick read. Read in about 45mins. The story is fun but basic also and rushes a lot of the storyline. Two star read.

I read almost all of the the Goosebumps books in the 90s and still remember them! However, this one hit me the most. It's been about 20 years and I can still recall the chilling and intriguing story. I have always loved both suspense and fiddling with time, this book has both of them. Really enjoyable soft horror from mr. Stine.
