Review readers beware your in for a... spoiler-ish review. (I think)
(did anyone get that)
Definitely not as I remember reading years ago, but definitely better then what I had thought in mind. Im glad I decided to re-read this cause thats not how I remember it. I thought it was about being stuck in the Cuckoo clock
But no its about time manipulation.
The main character Michael life is miserable because of his sister always getting him in trouble, and a bunch of horrible things. His father brings home a Cuckoo clock. Michaels sister Tara is enamored with it. Wanting to get back at his sister he decides to get her in trouble for once. So he moves the hands on the clock. The next day its not the next day. Suddenly it's a couple days earlier. Then it happens again. Over and over and Hes getting younger and younger.
I like the whole time is going backwards and if he doesn't fix it he may vanish.
It doesn't go into how and why the clock makes time go backward (i think, but im 90% sure this book didn't) but with R.L Stine goosebumps books I dont really expect that.
If it was like a YA book type or like a book aimed to older people yeah I definitely want to know the mechanics. But this is goosebumps. I expect a problem happening to the character, the character deals with problem, they seemingly fixes problem, then a "what?!?!?!?!" At the end. A straight forward type book.
One thing that annoys me the most is his little sister. Tara was spoiled child who never got in trouble for things she did. Instead the Michael got in trouble. FOR EVERYTHING! I had to put down my book cause i was just so annoyed at that girl. SHE GOT HIM BEATEN UP AND JUST SMILED WITH A "I thought it was your cap".
OH. MY. GOSH. SHE WAS HORRIBLE!
I definitely wouldn't like a sibling like her. She was bratty.
But on the flip side, im glad she wasn't just another Ooo a cute young innocent child. Kids can definitely be little pains when they want to be. Especially if they are spoiled and get away with things like she was.
These books are a little over 100 pages and really good for a quick read.

Currently rereading my original Goosebumps collection
This is R. L. Stine's foray into time travel. It's a typical story about a boy caught in a time warp who keeps going further and further back through time everytime he wakes up after messing with an antique cuckoo clock. I really liked this one, and its the first book in the series I ever remember reading. Great book for kids.

I'm pretty sure I read a lot of Goosebumps as a kid, but it's been so long (I'm in my 30s now) and I can't remember which ones so it almost feels like reading them for the first time.
This one was just okay for me. The story was fine. It's sold as the kid is de-aging, which is true. But I'd pictured it as it was 1995 and he was de-aging to a baby while everything else around him stayed the same. In reality, it was more like the years were literally being rolled back so that he was living through days/years that had already happened to him.
His sister was literally the worst though. I'm actually sensing a theme with some of the Goosebumps books that Stine had a thing for rotten siblings, lol.

I know I read a number of Goosebumps books as a child, but The Cuckoo Clock of Doom is the only one I vividly remember. It has a certain darkness the other books lack. The very existence of the protagonist is at risk in this book, and the twist ending is one of the darker ones in the series.
I used to love this book when I was younger, and I'm sure I still will the next time I pick it up again.
