This is the first manga I've ever read and I knew about Berserk because of the show on Netflix. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It is dark, the art is beautiful, the story is somewhat interesting (the main trope is a little boring but....it just gets weird which is actually why it is so fun to read).
Looking forward to the other volumes.

I'm very much looking forward to the second volume, but I have a strong feeling that this first volume is more of a prologue. It reads like a generic horror/fantasy quest until the back third of the book; the dimension scene and Guts's backstory reeled me and expanded the scope of the story greatly.
The art is the greatest takeaway so far. It's brutal, gritty, and highly-detailed. However, I found some of the more abstract panels confusing. This happened a few times during combat sequences, I just couldn't understand what was going on in certain moments. Probably just a skill issue on my part.
