I first read about Adam and Christoffer on The Other Book, the first installment of the series and have been curious about them ever since. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed. It was as sizzling and as enjoyable as I expected.

Both beautiful and hot. Harmonious is the word that comes to mind. I already got a warm impression of these two while reading [b:The Other Book|43380012|The Other Book (Those Other Books #1)|Roe Horvat|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1545995117s/43380012.jpg|67393320] and this beginning part of their story confirmed that. Lovely.

Steamy steamy steamy!

This book is the origin of Christoffer and Adam getting together and becoming a couple.

Plenty of feels mixed with plenty of sex, but then what would you expect knowing these 2. I admit I was plenty curious about them after reading book 1. They did not disappoint.

Warning: Keep a tall glass of ice water handy. This book is a scorcher!

If you want sweet characters, mixed in with a little angst, and super hot sexy times, well this is the read for you.

We got to see Adam and Christoffer as a fully established, thriving couple in ‘The Other Book’, also by Roe Horvat (if you didn’t already know); in that book Adam & Christoffer definitely left me wanting to know more about them, and we get that with this book. Told from their POVs, it gives us more depth and intrigue into two characters who were already pretty interesting. This is their origin story; we see how these two men - who we’ve already seen as ‘sure, and perfectly comfortable in their skin & relationship’ - actually begin in a place of unexplainable fiery attraction that was clouded with hurts and insecurities. Both men are clever, and capable of great love. They both know the future they want but have been burnt before and disillusioned, and will have to figure out how to overcome that to get the futures they want.

Adam is not what I expected. His history and what he has had to overcome made me ache. Since I already knew some of his future (which was a bit of balm while I read) it didn’t stop me from hoping he got the happy ending he so desperately wants. Thankfully, Adam has also gathered some good friends who support him. Hopefully we get more of them in the future.

Christoffer, well, he’s just one of those big, snuggly, teddy-bear characters with a massive heart he just wants to share. I love characters like this.

A bonus was glimpsing Tyler from ‘The Other Book’. Seeing him from ‘other’ POVs (couldn’t help myself there) was lots of fun. He’s a bit brash. Good thing he’s a bit more grown up in his own story.

I love this author and their way with words. If you’re a fan, you won’t be disappointed.

I have been craving this novel since reading The Other Book and it did not disappoint. We caught glimpses - albeit very revealing glimpses - of Adam in that first book and I distinctly remember how excited I was to hear that the author was writing him his own story. It was a little scary, going into this having loved him from that first book because I’ve read follow ups that butcher once-loved characters. I can promise you that this does Adam all of the justice in the world. If you like your protagonists as sexy as they are endearing, you need to check this out.

3.5 While this book was better than the first book, I missed the deeper emotional character connection we have with other Hotvat stories.
