LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!
Jade and Shep had a beautiful journey!
Humorous, smutty, sarcastic and amazing with all the warm fuzzy feels!
Definitely worth reading!

I love Monica Murphy. This book was a solid four stars for me:
1. Loved Shep and his dirty month
2. Loved Jade and her snarky mouth
3. Hot sex scenes
4. Extremely low on the drama level (almost a little too low-hence my 4 star rating)

Excited for the next two installments of the series.

Honestly so disappointed. This book had me hooked for a while and then it got slow and boring and felt never ending.

Definitely a slow burn. Definitely too long. And surprise surprise, they fall in love in a month. Like… be somewhat realistic? Anyway, I was looking forward to this book and it did not hit.

It was okay. I thought Jade was cool at first, she was a tough chick and then became literal mush. Shep was alright the whole time, average f*ck boy.

Started reading for that “frat boy” persona but certainly did not get that. Just a rich asshole who falls in love after claiming to only “hit it and quit it” for years.

Shep was intrigued by Jade because she refused him, he didn’t know what “no” meant. He wanted her because she didn’t want him. He wasn’t SUPER into her from the beginning, he thought she was hot and he wanted to fuck her. He fell in love with her after realizing women are human beings and maybe he should look at them and treat them that way instead of f*ck toys.

medium-paced

Fair Game plays on one of my favorite plotlines … enemies turned lovers.

In this case most of the loathing is one sided.
Jade Frost is decidedly against all things Sheppard Prescott … from his perceived entitled attitude right down to his name … she can’t seem to find a single redeeming quality, except maybe his devastating good looks.
Shep, on the other hand … well, let’s just say he is in complete lust with Jade from the moment he lays eyes on her … even when he overhears her snarky comments about him, he’s not deterred from pursuing her.

Their meeting is truly epic. Jade is offered up as a prize in a game of poker … what the hell? Thankfully, Jade feels the same way I did about this scenario & refuses to play along when her boyfriend loses her to Shep’s winning hand. Jade lets her firey temper show & leaves Shep with a moment he’ll likely never forget.
And the hot pursuit begins!

I really enjoyed the banter in this book. Jade is a very fierce young lady … and even though she is saddled with a lot of self doubt in certain areas of her life (the bedroom) she certainly never lets it slow her down. I really admired the way her character stood up for herself.
Shep on the other hand … as sexy and sweet as he was … I found him to be a bit of an entitled ass, like Jade first assumed him to be. It’s not until well into the story that he starts to really show a different side - for me, it was almost too little too late … ALMOST … I will admit that, like Jade, I did find myself falling for his sexy swagger.

And YES! This book is totally sexy! There is so much heat … thankfully, it was warm enough outside for me to turn on my air conditioner ... wowzers!

The only thing I felt lacking with this story was a true, deep connection between the characters. They had great sexual chemistry, and they proved that over & over & over … but I didn’t get the sense that they had much more than that … the conversations they shared seemed to be very basic - heck they didn’t even discuss school majors until about 80% into the book … I’m not really sure that I bought into the possibility of true love with so little going on outside of the bedroom.
Oh! And one more thing … call it trivial … the models on the book cover do not look a lot like the character descriptions … Jade is supposed to have bright red hair (picture fire) with lots of freckles (ok so the model has some good freckle happening) and Shep is supposed to be a sun-kissed blonde … yeah, sorry pretty model people … I’m not feeling it.

Overall, the story flowed very nicely and I am very interested to read the next book … the teaser was great! I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys other work by this author and/or a nice light romantic read with plenty of steam.

Fair Game is book 1 in a 3 part series, each book about a different couple.

3.5 ⭐️

Shep and Jade’s introduction to each other was unconventional but fun for the plot. I didn’t really like that they hadn’t ran into each other before, but that after the bet they seemed to always see one another. It felt too convenient for me.

I also felt that their relationship moved quickly, but at least they were both aware of it.

My favorite thing about this book was that we finally get a college romance with no third act break up! I did, however, hate that we only got a “happy for now” ending. I want to know if Shep’s mom ever comes around (probably not), or how Shep and Jade handle the fact that he is graduating soon. I need a deeper look into the future!

Thank you!

Safe Bet just came out and I realised I haven't heard of this series yet. So I gave it a go.

Yes, this story is full of cliches... but I don't freaking care. I loved it.

DNF 51%. Most annoying, pick-me, negative heroine everrrrr. Idk how anyone can finish this. I enjoyed some of Monica’s other books but my god… Jade is atrocious as well as this storyline. Ive read better fanfiction at 13
