satisfying conclusion! just as fun to read!
- yhl is excellent at making reveals at precisely the right moment
- more indulgent than books 1 and 2 imo, some scenes with kujen and dhanneth were straight off ao3
- wish kujen's relationships held more weight for me, esp his with jedao
- loved the moth stuff
- after an extremely opaque book 1, it's funny how readable and forthcoming books 2 and 3 were... also how the vastness/universal stakes of book 1 narrowed to a field of 2-3 relationships in book 3
- feel like i've gotten everything I need out of this series (again, satisfying!), no particular desire to reread or read the side stories

Very satisfying conclusion. 9 years after Cheris-Jedao's bold calendrical spike, Hexarch Kujen returns to finish off the upstart breakaways from the Hexarchate. Oh, and he's created another Jedao. Sort of. Cheris got most of his memories, so he's a bit lost, particularly at the way people react to him. Beautifully intricate plans-within-plans-lead-to-more-plans plot.

We get a bit more servitor culture, and find out that the "moths" actually have a living creature at their core. An enslaved living creature, driven nearly extinct in the wild by Kujen's efforts to create ships for the hexarchate. The most interesting bit is that Kujen was once someone who cared deeply, so deeply that he wanted to make sure that no one would ever starve again. How that changed would be a spoiler (the one quote marked as a spoiler in my highlights gives the basic idea).

A fitting end, and I was delighted that there was more time devoted to the servitors. I really loved this series, and it amazes me that each book is fairly different than the others, yet they all hang together well and tell one big story. This is a series that I think might be even better as a re-read, as I’m sure that there are a lot of details I missed this time around, especially in the first book where you spend a lot of time trying to figure out the world (which is incredibly creative).

Great finish to the series, though I thought there were passing plot points that weren't picked up, and I was surprised by some threads that weren't explored, but maybe I was expecting it to follow in the footsteps of some other books.

Each book has a new schtick - and I really liked this one! I like this world, I like the characterization (including the non-human characters). I will probably read the short story collection at some point just to read more in the world.
