I just read this book as a preparation for the ARC of book no 2.

I have read quite a few of Elizabeth Knight's other books and always loved that. Can't say that I got right into this book quite the same, but the more it progressed, the better I liked it. So, I would give it a 3,5-3,75, rounded up to 4 stars.

Some of the characters I found to be difficult to read in the beginning, and I felt the story was lacking some back story, but as I said, it got better in the end.

Still would recommend to read!

Cambrie had a painful abused life. When she gets away from her father, she meets Nixon, Rafael, and Spencer at shelter, and they have an instant connection. But when they discover she an omega, they bring her back to their pack so they can protect her. There she will meet Marius, Oscar, and Bohdi who are the rest of the pack. All of them feel protected and instantly fall for her. But as they will try to do anything by the law to keep her safe and with them. Their journey is incredible but be prepared for a huge cliffhanger.

This was a fresh take on the reasoning behind the rarity of omegas. I love the care the pack showed when it came to triggers and the descriptions of the trauma responses.

This is the story of Cambrie, who is an abused Omega in a dystopian future where Omegas are rare and generally controlled by the government. Her mother died when she was a child leaving her with an alcoholic, abusive, father.  When he finds out she's emerged as an omega, he decides he's found a payday and locks her up until her 18th birthday when he can sell her on the black market to an Alpha.
When she escapes her father and is on the run, she manages to find her way to a shelter run by one of the ruling Councilmen, who has been on the news talking about ways to help people that suggest Cambrie might be able to trust their help for the night while she figures out where to go.  That leads to an unexpected meeting with a pack and then falling for the multiple men within that pack. Unfortunately, things are not meant to go that smoothly for Cambrie and the boys.

Beware - this book ends on a cliffhanger so make sure you have book 2 ready to go!!
