DID NOT FINISH

It was a very sweet omegaverse in a dystopian society, but honestly, I just wasn't a fan of the age gap between the men and the just-turned-18-year-old FMC Cambrie. I don't recall if every man had their ages revealed but at least a couple (out of 6 men when I stopped) were 15-18+ years older than her. While the men were certainly very gentle and understanding to their virgin abused omega, once they started trying to "teach" her how to enjoy intimate relations at 62% into the book.... I had to nope out. I was hoping maybe this would be a different twist with more platonic relationships in the pack with a young naive omega, but alas, that was not to be.

I'd recommend this book to people who enjoy sweet omegaverse billionaire romance and are okay with graphic abuse but don't have problems with reading about age-gap relationships with a barely adult FMC. I had picked up this book since I enjoy omegaverse and I had enjoyed the author's Omega Assassin series, but I didn't realize how old the FMC would be in this book when she found her pack and the ages of the men in them from the synopsis alone.

I was engrossed from page 1. Finished this in a handful of hours when I should have been working. Ends on a cliffhanger.

CW: emotional and psychical abuse (outside the harem), age-gap within harem, virgin FMC, power imbalance within harem

Poly romance, includes group and mm scenes. I know some reviews mention concerns with the age-gap and experience gap. I think this is a very valid point, so keep that in mind if you decide to read. Power imbalance, life experience imbalance, education imbalance. With that said, I found the pack to be sweet, caring, and nurturing. Cambrie is as written sheltered and uninformed, but I think the MMCs were still respectful while also being the good kind of dirty.

"'It's going to take the right people to help her, Spense, but something in my soul tells me our pack can do it.'"

Knot All is Lost is a Why Choose Omegaverse novel and is the first in a duology. In this world, Omegas are going extinct thanks to a Beta terrorist group who sought to destroy the Alpha and Omega superiority. As a result, Omega are often taken away from their families after the present and thrown into government facilities or sold on the black market. This is where Cambrie, our female main character comes in. Cambrie has spent the last 10 years of her life abused and tormented by her father after the death of her mum. When she presents as an Omega as the age of 16, her father locks her in the basement and auctions her off on her 18th birthday to an Alpha willing to pay top dollar. Cambrie escapes and finds herself at a shelter where she meets an unlikely pack who are drawn to her and determined to help her.

On the surface this book has a lot of the things I normally like - spice, insta-love, omegaverse, protective male characters, and a found family vibe. Yet as I started reading I starting getting a grooming vibe from this book - this mainly was a result of the age gape romance between some of the characters, the positions of power they were in, and the characterization of the female main character. To starts, Cambrie is 18 years old when she meets these men but some of them are at least 20 years older than her (its noted quite pointedly he is distinguished with grey hairs and age lines on his face). In addition, one of these men is the therapist in the facility while two others help run the shelter. When they meet her she immediately is cuddling with them before being taken to their home for safety. Now, she is a virgin and we don't see any sexual content until about the 60% mark but they are "teaching her." To cap this all off, the author heavily emphasizes the innocence and naivety of Embrie as an abused, malnourished, and clueless her which makes the progression of the relationship hard to rationalize.

NOTE - not all the men in the group are 20+ years older but the ones that are are in positions of power are the ones who instigated the beginning of the relationship.

"For the first time since my mother died, I was in the arms of someone who would protect me."

I have read other books where a character is abused or imprisoned and I have read books with significant age gapes but the mixing of all these things just didn't sit well with me. I can usually set aside reality but not here. Admittedly, I started skimming the book after the first sexual encounter just to see what happened at the end of the book. There is a heat scene in this novel but not all character participate.

In terms of plot, this is a light plot with the male characters challenging the oppressive Omega measures in place that prevent an Omega from choosing their pack (because she wants them). This novel ends on a cliff hanger with more of this plot to continue. It also seems like another character may join the pack. We also see relationships develop between other members in the group that were platonic in the beginning.

Ultimately, if you love super sweet and spicy Omegaverse romances and enjoy your taboo romances, then you may enjoy this. I could not set aside my feelings about these topics and will not read the next book.

The story didn't catch me. The dialogues are too perfectly spoken, too polite and too respectful, I felt like what I was reading was scripted, it wasn't natural. It could have been good if not for that and the fact that the FMC is 18 (her bday was 1 week ago) 100% inexperienced and uneducated (didn't go to school or high school), while 5 of the 6 male characters are over 30 and educated, it made me feel like they were taking advantage of her because I didn't believe their happy and protective speech because it felt false. I mean, she didn't even knew about alpha and Omega dynamics..

Wow!! This book was fantastic and a great entry to the omega verse for Elizabeth Knight. In this book we meet Cambrie who has been through hell and abuse like no other. After escaping she is taken in by a pack. I loved how raw Cambrie was. She clearly suffers from what happened to her but she did not let it break her and I honestly love that in a character. Seeing her bloom with her guys made it even better. This book had steam, amazing character building and plot! I will say I was so shocked by the ending and cannot wait to see what happens next. I will say I am curious if she will be adding another man to her harem, can’t wait to find out!!!
