DID NOT FINISH

DNF. Audiobook. Narrator wise I wasn’t a huge fan of male and female voices intermixed in the chapters. I also wasn’t a big fan of the female voice. Story wise, at first I was intrigued but then I couldn’t decided if this book was YA with some of the dialogues choices. Too childish for my personal tastes. I also bowed out when they brought in angels, Lucifer, Jesus, and demons. I love mythology but it was too on the nose Christian and that is definitely not how I like my fantasy novels.

Everything about this book and the narration was amazing. For being only my 3rd fantasy romance novel read, this was by far the best. The plot was unique, engaging, enticing. I loved the closeness of all the characters and each of their personalities. The tension between August and Alvera throughout was written so well. I seriously can’t say enough good things about this book. Well done.

I LOVE this series. So often fantasy world building is overwhelming, this is explained so gradually and so well that I was actually able to comprehend it. Plus the fact that the FMC is the all powerful badass is just amazing. I wish I could read this again for the first time!

DNF. 70% through. This is had promise till you realize that there is little to no world building, the author likes to use tell instead of show repeatedly. Fated mates troupe in this book is the worst, because they don't freaking talk enough to have any connection on page, the chemistry between them is fabricated between the author telling us they grew close and time passes not showing us anything. I will not be finishing.

I genuinely loved this book. Not to mention the way it throws you off the cliff side at the end making you want even more!

The story follows Alvara and August, along with SO many other awesome side characters (looking at your Ansel

I don't know where to start with this one. I loved Alvara and August's story, and there's still more to come - can't wait!
This was a HUGE story, but it didn't feel that way as I was reading, I was just completely drawn into this world. The present and past lives, the characters and their roles within the world, battles, magic, demons - there was a lot going on and I enjoyed every minute.
The way the whole story unraveled and the dots connected was such fun to read. The romance was slow burn, which ordinarily I don't love, but here it was just right.
I just loved everything about this book. I am so excited for more.

This was an incredible thick high fantasy book. I absolutely loved the world setting and the characters.

We start out following August, a successful businessman who has a nightmare that his fiance was stabbed by someone. In comes many MCs who help save his fiance. Alvara and her soul team have been searching for August to save him from the crawlers or demons before his ascending. Unfortunately for August, nothing is as it seems, and many more trials are coming his way.

This book is heavy on the fantasy with a slow burn romance. There are light vs dark, demons vs half-angels, a religious aspect, fated soulmates, major action scenes, and much more. The amount of detail and thought put into this world building is amazing. The characters are relatable and funny but also loyal and caring. I loved the banter between the group. I can't wait to read the second book in the series.
