An honest foray into various modern sexual norms and not so norm. Witt travels places so we don’t have to go there (unless we want to). The tour is fascinating, surprisingly personal, and humorous in equal measure.

How did this book just find it's way into my hands? Had a hard time with Witt's more conservative opinions toward the beginning, but found this to be a great discussion of the current intersection of sex, the internet, and a new approach/title for non-monogamy. Ending was too obtuse to effectively tie the concerns raised on varying topics together, but still an enjoyable read.

Good book, but a bit unfocused. The central theme - I think - is the nexus between sex and technology while also chronicling the author's experiences in this area. This becomes a mixed bag as the early chapters are about the author's specific experiences (attending a kink porn shoot, online dating), but then things switch to become less about the author's perspective (the polyamory essay is very little about the author) or about specific experiences (the chapter on birth control muses more on statistics and the general experience of being a modern woman in a culture that treats a monogamous nuclear family as "ideal").

These essays probably could have been published separately in various publications rather than compiled under this broad umbrella, as it sits uncomfortably between journalism and memoir. But the majority of them are good reads about sexual niches and how sexuality is evolving culturally.

I picked this up expecting something a bit more analytic/journalistic; it ended up being more of an observational memoir. As such, it's still quite good! Entertaining and often funny, and often rather sad, as well. Sex doesn't seem any less confusing/fraught with emotional peril in the future.

One thing I'd point out: this book is extremely white/upper-middle-class. I think it's a very cool engaging portrait of the sexual explorations of that demographic and how those explorations represent a desire for bereft meaning, but it's all nonetheless quite a limited pov for a book whose goals seem to be more universal.
