This book had me feeling SO many things. The dynamic between Nia and Talan was absolutely a chef’s kiss. I was DYING inside as they were navigating their relationship and the identity discovery just had me DEVASTAED for Talan and Nia. Like crying about it. The story line was excellent and the way things were resolved was great except for not knowing the true fate of a certain “king”. Maybe he’ll show up sometime in the future? I loved the character development of both Talan and Nia and I’m so happy to know that I was right about Talan. He was definitely morally grey but in the end he was more. We learn so much about his past in this book and what he went through was absolutely devastating- it only made me love him more. The slow simmering burn was agonizing because it basically spanned two entire book but when it happened, it was at the perfect time. Any other time and it would have felt more like a betrayal. The loss in this book is tough and it definitely hit me hard. I became emotionally invested in these characters, especially the side characters like Serana, Tana, Darius, Navine, Tarasque, and Mordred. Overall this series was great and I will definitely be eating up anything CN Crawford and Alex Rivers.

This book has it all. Spies, deception, magic, folklore, dragons, enemies-lovers, and found family.
I think Talan might be my new favorite book boyfriend he really shows his true colors in this book and I loved the way he and Nia work together.
What an epic conclusion to the series. It really had everything I wanted.
