I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This suspenseful novel was full of twists and turns, as well as scientific information about planets, stars, and other space related matters. A leading space researcher returns home from presenting an important discovery to find that her husband is missing. Where is he, who is trying to harm him, and is she safe? You'll have to read to find out.

I loved this. The pace was just right, it was sufficiently twisty, and panned out exactly the way you want a suspense novel to go. It was on the shorter side and I flew through it. I highly recommend this one.

I had this on my “want to read list” and then saw a Goodreads giveaway for it- guess what!? I won!

Now for my review that is in no way affected by the giveaway.

This book is a mystery and a love story mixed together with a dash of stargazing.
I loved Sarah’s character and appreciated her intelligence and intuition- I don’t think I would have been that smart if my husband went missing.
The mystery was solved by the relationship and and the true love that Sarah and Ben shared together, that was refreshing and beautiful to me.
During a couple of nights while reading this I was inspired to bring my husband outside to sit on the back patio and look up at the stars in the sky - something we do together on occasion but not often enough.

If you like a little bit of true love wrapped up in a mystery this book is a great pick!

Astronomer Sarah Mayfield comes home after a big presentation to find her husband Ben missing. During the investigation into his disappearance, the police begin to suspect her as she's the sole beneficiary of his business fortune and life insurance policy...and the fact that she asked for a divorce shortly before her trip.
Then Ben becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation and his disappearance takes on a more ominous meaning. Sarah never believes that Ben could kill anyone, and she desperately tries to decipher the clues he left behind.
Thank you to Dete Meserve, Lake Union Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this exciting book. I've always loved astronomy, so the facts about the stars and constellations were fascinating and the way they were used to also describe the relationship between Sarah and Ben was interesting. This was a great book that I couldn't wait to find out what happened, but I didn't want the story to end.

The Space Between was an engaging read. I enjoyed how the fascination of the cosmos folded into the suspenseful plot line and led me toward the twists and turns of the novel. I thought I had it figured out but there was a final surprise that was satisfying to experience as a reader. It was the perfect airplane read and I couldn't put it down!

After announcing the biggest discovery of her career, Sarah Mayfield, astronomer, comes home and finds that her life has been totally tuned upside down. Her husband of fifteen years, Ben, is missing and as time goes on is presumed to be dead. Sarah and her son Kyle are trying to get by the day to day trying to understand what’s happening to their lives. Sarah is thrust into a world she never imagined and begins to question everything she knows about her marriage, her husband, her life. Sarah also comes to find out that maybe she doesn’t know certain people in her life as well as she thinks she does. As the mystery unfolds will Sarah be able to put her life back together?

This book has you hooked from the very beginning. One of my favorite things Sarah says several times in the book is “Like so many things in the universe, the answers might be hiding in plain sight or obscured by what we see in front of us”. Sarah’s willingness to try and see things from all angles and make new discoveries whether it be in her work or in life is infectious. Dete Meserve has written an incredible story of faith, love, family and hope, with a fantastic mystery to make it all come together!

I absolutely loved this book. If you haven’t read Dete Meserve before, I suggest you pick up one of her books. She’s an amazing author that tells you a story that keeps you riveted until the end.

I have to thank #NetGalley, #Lake Union and #Dete Meserve for this awesome book.

It had me from the title. I’ve always loved everything about space, the atmosphere, the whole thing. It’s the most fascinating thing ever to me. Like the oceans, it goes on and on forever. Not beginning and no ending and we are but one tiny dot. That is just awesome to me.

Sarah and Ben are a typica couple. Married a long time and have a son. They drifted apart in so many ways but can they find their way back to each other. Ben is missing and Sarah has no idea where he is or what he has done. She was gone when Ben went missing and now she is second guessing herself and him. What can you do when the person you loved and trusted more than anyone in the world becomes a stranger. Do you trust them or try to figure out who they are? Will things ever get back to normal. Will Sarah ever know what happened. Will Ben be ok? So many questions. So little time to figure it out.

Can Sarah and Ben find a way to get their lives back on track or is it to late. Will Ben be ok? This was a very good book from start to finish. A true love story with so much suspense, betrayal, lies and deceit involved.

Two of my favorite lines in this story are: “If we’re going to understand what happened to your day, we have to look beyond what we can see,” I say, “and search in the space between.”
That line is what gave me the reason for the title of this book. I loved it..
The human heart is not so easily understood. Sometimes what we’re seeking is right in front of us, even if we can’t see it. Sometimes we have to look beyond what’s concrete and measurable and trust in what’s unknowable.
I loved that line also. It sums up what can happen if you take things for granted in your life, relationships and friendships.

I loved this book and gave it a big 5 star rating. It was so good and the first book I have read by this wonderful author. I can’t wait to read more.

This was the first book I read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. It was well written and kept me interested from beginning to end. My mind never wandered and I didn’t want to put it down but chores and work interfered. I will definitely be rereading it, reading her other books and any new ones in the future. I will be recommending this book to friends and family and may even lend them my copy.

In this mystery/thriller, Sarah returns from a business trip to find her husband gone, the security camera footage erased and a gun in her nightstand drawer. Her teenage son said that the last thing his father told him was to keep the doors locked and set the alarm. As more details emerge, and Sarah has no idea if her husband is dead or alive, or guilty of a crime, Sarah recalls the good times in her marriage and becomes more and more determined that things are not what they seem.

Full disclosure: mystery and suspense are not my preferred genre for reading - so this book was never super likely to be a five-star book for me.

I received it in my monthly subscription for Once Upon A Book Club, and I will say I enjoyed it much more than I expected to.

It's a quick read, I finished it in a day, despite having an awards show that occupied five hours of my evening. So it fulfills the requirement of being a gripping page turner.

However, and there may be spoilers to those that want to know nothing about the book outside the description on the back, I figured out the "who dunnit" of it all at page 157. That meant for the next approximately 150 pages I found myself literally yelling at the book - something my husband didn't appreciate as he worked his way through his own, very different book.

I also find Sarah's actions to be confusing and frustrating. The number of times she breaks the law by hiding and destroying evidence, in combination with her efforts to actively thwart an active police investigation is annoying.

Because I figured out who was behind everything it changed the back half of the book from the "I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS" at the beginning to "WHY DOES NO ONE KNOW NOT TO TELL HIM SHIT YET?!?! WHY DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW IT'S CLEARLY HIM?!?!"

If you're looking for a quick and easy book to pad your yearly reading list, if you like compelling characters, and a decent plot then by all means check this book out. It won't be a waste of your time - but I hope you don't figure out who it is quite as early.
