This is a book I picked up as a read that was done by me book club before I joined. It was.. ok. It ticks all the boxes for If you like cosy murder mysteries with libraries and cats, which is about what it looks like, so no major disappointments there. It is a [vanilla (cis-het-ablebodied-White) woman goes to Oregon and finds magic] type story and is very thin on any form of diversity, though it does mention English classes for migrants being held at the library. And we all love out local community libraries.

Everything you could want from a cozy mystery. Speaking as I librarian I am JEALOUS of Josie! So darn jealous, and you should read it to find out why. If I was a witch, that is what I would totally want to have as my powers.

Cute. I'm excited to see what comes next.

I loved this book. I liked the characters and I liked the setting. The book magic was great. The mystery had layers and a few twists and turns.

First and foremost, on the cozy name scale, this is a 5/5. This is the start of new series about a magical librarian, so what else do I need? A coffee shop maybe where they can drink their drinks and discuss?

I love this as an opening for this series. It was fun and mysterious. The characters and the cozy ness were absolutely perfect.

I felt we were left on a bit of a cliffhanger, which I understand, but still wish it could have been wrapped up a bit cleaner to anticipate the next book. However, as a first in the series, it does have me already anticipating #2

Thank you Kensington and NetGalley for the gifted copy! I am so excited to see where this series will take us! Bait and Witch is out Dec 29th!
