This was really quite good! The final 50 pages or so did leave me sobbing.
For 5 stars I needed less of the
- "We shouldn't do this."
- "But I want to do this." and then back to
- "But we shouldn't do this."
But that's my only niggly complaint!

Thanks so much to Epic Reads for the free advance reader's copy of "Meet Me in the Middle"! Here's what I thought about the book: SPOILERS

Meet Me in the Middle did such a fantastic job tackling grief, especially when you grieve those that are still alive. I believe this can resonate with many people, especially those who have friends and family affected by illnesses that are terminal, such as cancer.

I also adored Eden and Truman and how they handled their complicated and tragic situation. It was so mature of them to part ways as they did and I honestly hope that many people can learn from their experience. I will definitely be rooting for them to find each other again in the future!

One aspect that I hope can also resonate with people was how Eden and Truman felt so lost and didn't have a predetermined path in life. One of my favorite quotes was, "It's exhausting to feel as if you have no control over the path your life takes" (p.24). As a recent college grad myself during the pandemic, I felt and still feel this way. It was so nice to hear that other people are also in my position and that I'm not alone. I feel like so many YA books focus on teens who know what they want to do that it's immensely refreshing to get this very real and raw perspective.

Overall, I really enjoyed Meet Me in the Middle. The information about the accident and Eden's past was given as needed and I'm glad there wasn't any oversharing. It also had a perfect resolution for the story it was telling. Although I wanted a happy ending (doesn't everyone?), I completely understand and agree with why Alex Light ended it the way she did. I now have to read her other book for sure!

2.5⭐️ wasn't a fan of the writing and found it annoying that the characters kept mentioning their guilt over katie's accident without revealing to us what happened well into the latter half of the book. i would've liked bits and pieces to be revealed thruout. i love a second chance/forbidden romance tho and i was really rooting for their relationship. i also love myself a brother's best friend trope (or in this case best friend's brother). not sure if i liked the ending…left me an empty shell. not bad for my first wattpad turned novel tho i must admit.

3.75/5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this book! It’s fast paced, well written, and grabs you right from the start. It also really handles grief in a beautiful way.

Alex Light is an amazing writer. This book was so beautifully written and the characters really felt like real people with real and complicated emotions. I’ve never been in a situation like Eden or Truman, but I understood them. I also loved how she humanized Katie. She wasn’t just their loved one that they raised on a pedestal because she wasn’t with them, since she had flaws too. Flaws that still impact her best friend and her brother.
I also loved Eden and Truman’s chemistry. I thought they were really sweet.
My problem is that the plot doesn’t really start until like 70% through the book. I would have loved to see Truman and Eden interact in the present day more than we do.
I also usually don’t like an ending like that, though, it did feel right for this situation.
