It felt even more encyclopedic and fish-obsessed than Moby Dick, although that's probably a factor of audiobook vs reading. A fun adventure story, and the long descriptions of marine life did help to make the journey feel rich and more than just boys own set peices. Pretty fun, but not my favourite of his

When it's good, it's amazing. But that is rare in this book. You can skip the whole thing except for the last couple chapters and not miss that much. They see some fish, Atlantis, more fish, take a submarine to the south pole, get attacked by a squid, and then it's over.
There's some interesting aspects to Captain Nemo. Enough that I would watch a modern adaptation (as long as it doesn't follow the book but rather uses it as inspiration to tell a better adventure story). Special shout out to Ned the Canadian.
