Great story! And absolutely fantastic to see a piece of fiction aimed at a younger audience that explains the experiences of being non binary. Something tells me that books like this are going to help a lot of the queer generations after my own in figuring out their identity earlier.
Graphic: Kidnapping
Moderate: Stalking and Forced institutionalization

This book was a fantastic adventure! I feel like I made friends with all the characters along the way. I really cared about them and their journey. The illustrations are so beautiful and intricate. The whole story entirely captivated me. It was a delight seeing the development of each of the 6 “irregularities.” One of the things I really appreciated about this story is the kindness and growth and humanity of so many characters. I appreciated seeing characters admit to their mistakes and embrace change/growth (such as the leaders of The Malkins and Jackals, as well as the F.R.E.A.K.I.S.H. group). Characters apologizing when they’ve messed up, trusting what they know of each other (such as when they think one of their friends has betrayed them, and several of them speak up and remind the others that that isn’t the kind of person their friend is), and characters validating and recognizing and supporting one another. I’d love to see more stories with these characters!

Possibly the best graphic novel I've ever read. Such a sweet story and a phenomenally captivating story.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up. Let’s just say, I was not disappointed.
After the kid’s safe space, the Playroom, is compromised, they end up looking for another place to belong. We follow them across the country and meet a bunch of fun characters on the way.
Each of the kids are completely lovable with unique personalities. The art is precious and expressive (as a fellow artist, it’s inspirational too!). I love the character designs of the main characters and all the extras! There was always something interesting to look at.
The found family is great here too—they all have their own relationships with each other. I just loved watching them interact
Short anecdote: This book is relatively small--not as big as the novels I'm used to reading. When I picked it up, the first thing I thought was, "Wow, this is a really heavy book." I proceeded to tell everyone around me to hold it. Now they all think I'm nuts (even when they agreed), and I'll forever remember this book as the Really Heavy book with precious characters :D
