I loved the beginning of this book. In fact, I loved the whole book right up until he starts walking, then it went downhill in a hurry. I hate it when authors feel like you need to know every little detail about someones life in order to understand the story. I really don't care what the character ate for breakfast, or what time he woke up at, or how wet his feet were. I just want to get on with the story! Still, it was a fun book. I don't think I could make it through 4 more books about his LONG walk, but it was an interesting idea.
This story has been done before but it was still an enjoyable read. Lots of good nuggets of wisdom sprinkled through out. This is the first of a series and I usually wait to read these until they are all out (or close to). With this author I can handle a wait even though I liked the book and I want to know what happens I'm not DYING to get to the next installment.
Nice quick read. Struggled to choose between 3 and 4 stars.

Meh. I really liked the idea, but this author's style of writing was not my cup of tea. I kept reading, hoping it would get better because the idea is so great--but it didn't, and I won't be going on in the series. :(
A couple of things can be said about the books of Richard Paul Evans, one is that schmaltz is lathered heavily upon you, like lashings of honey on what would now be an almost invisible crumpet, and he has the ability to make a book look loner than what it is with all the padding, ie blank pages between chapters, and lots of chapters.
This is the first of a series about a geezer who suffers some tragedies and goes for a walk, and meets some other geezers along the way - yep that's it and it's a series, it realistically seems like it could have been done in one book, but you never know there could be more to say in the next books.
Having said all of that it was still a fair read, and not appealing although I'm still not confident t can be sustained as a series.

What an amazing book. It's a fast read, and I really enjoyed it.
Good book narrated by the author. Story about a man that loses his wife and struggles to go on,
I loved this book, I cant wait to read the second one.
Easy read. Somewhat interesting. Some wisdom and lessons learned.
“Why do we blame God for the bad things but not the good?”
I read this book several years ago so this is a reread for me. I was in a major reading slump and wondered if it would help to read a book I’ve already read. Considering i finished it in 2 or 3 days, I’d say it definitely helped. Onto Book #2!

It was ok. I really enjoyed the beginning, but I got bored through the second. It's an interesting subject, but I don't think I'll finish the series.
