The Walk

I love reading Richard Paul Evans. The Walk is a quick spiritual read about finding your way through life after a death.

Good thing there is another book because it kind of just ended.

Beautiful ❤️

A great little book. There are 282 pages, but with all the chapter headings and white space it's more like 50. I'm exaggerating, but I feel for those who paid $22 for a whole lot of blank paper.

Very quick read. Interesting characters and I didn't want to put it down. Finished in a day.

Better than I remember! Great start to the journey.

This is an insightful, journal-like story about a successful advertising exec who had everything, lost it all, and then embarks on a cross-country walk to work through his grief. He begins the walk feeling hopeless, but as he walks, he heals and learns that it is a choice to live one's life to the fullest.

"The thing is, the only real sign of life is growth. And growth requires pain. So to choose life is accept pain. Some people go to such lengths to avoid pain that they give up on life. They bury their hearts, or they drug or drink themselves numb until they don't feel anything anymore. The irony is, in the end their escape becomes more painful than what they're avoiding." (Ally, page 217)

"Kierkegaard wrote that 'we understand our lives backward, but must live them forward.' He was right, of course; but in looking back on the hammer strikes that chisel and shape our souls we understand more than our lives and even ourselves -- we begin to comprehend the sculptor." (Alan's diary, page 270)

My mantra has always been "less is more," and this book aptly makes that point. This is a quick read (journal like, short chapters) and the first book of a 4-book series.

Another book picked for our work book club, this story is touching, moving, and hopeful. All I was really expecting when reading this book was that I would most likely cry.

The Walk is about a man and his soul mate. Starting from childhood, these two kids grow up and find themselves exactly where they should be – with each other. When tragedy strikes, they find themselves searching for meaning and purpose.

I was never more grateful to find out this book was a trilogy than when I read the last page and couldn’t wait to find out where the journey would take us next. It was such an amazing and heartfelt book and I feel like everyone should read it and learn the true meaning behind finding yourself.
