Whenever you're going through a very tough time this book will inspire you to keep moving forward.

I don’t usually cry with books but this one got me. An interesting and deep story, also a quick read as the author broke up the journey over several books. Will definitely have to pick up the next one.

The ending really spoke to my heart. I hope this book generates a good discussion at book club.

"I just wonder why it is we blame God for everything except the good. Did you blame Him for giving her to you in the first place? How many people go their whole lives and never get to experience that kind of love?"

I finished this book in a day! I liked it. It was an easy read, but sprinkled throughout were these major nuggets of life truth. The Epilogue made me cry, actually. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series as they come out.

First half was brilliant and would've been 5 stars, but second half was totally different and the barrage of descriptions constantly would be 3 stars for that half, so settled for 4 stars.

Interested to see where the next book goes with the story though.

After Alan loses his wife, his home, and his business all in the same month, he's ready to end his life, too. Instead, he goes for a walk -- across the entire state of Washington. (The rest of the five-part series will, presumably, take Alan all the way to Key West, Florida.)

I've never been a terribly sentimental person, and most of Richard Paul Evans's books tend toward the romantic and dramatic ... I never can quite connect with this kind of book the way so many other people do. But this is a quick, wholesome read; I will probably keep going with the series.

Also: this book mentions food a LOT. After fighting a pancake craving caused by a certain fictional meal, I gave in and whipped up some of my own for breakfast. And they were tasty.

Every once in a great while you pick up a book that surprises you with how good it is. This is one of those books. On to book 2!
