I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley- thank you!

This book was so heartbreaking while also being enlightening. I liked Leah as a main character and hated what she had to go through. Definitely a read that will stand out for me this year!

Was a lot like Under The Magnolias, relatable to some degree. I truly enjoy Susan Bennett when it comes to narration and that is how this book was "read." It probably could have ended sooner than it did but otherwise would read it again with some tea and my own two eyes over a narration.

This book was reminiscent of Where the Crawdads sing in that it is set in the south, follows a girl who is nearly friendless in the world, and has lovely descriptions of nature. The writing is solid, but the plot twist was predictable and I didn't find myself rushing to pick this book back up.
